Synthetic polycrystalline diamond compact(PDC) is composed polycrystalline diamond layer and cemented carbide substrate (like Cobalt). It is a kind of super-abrasive product sintered under super-high pressure and at high temperature. With excellent wear-ability, this very hard product has impact toughness. Unlike PDC, TSP is unbacked polycrystalline diamond product, which is manufactured by the same ultra-high pressure and high temperature techniques associated with other PCD products. It is thermally stable up to 1200°C for its binder is chemically inert and has a similar coefficient of thermal expansion to that of diamond. It is suitable for mining bits and oil drlling bits.

Thermal Stable Polycrystalline diamond (TSP) can be manufactured into a variety of sizes and shapes (Cubes, Cylinders, Discs, Rectangles, Triangles, Spheres etc.) that can be inserted into cutting tools, drilling bits, reamers, wire drawing dies, and other wear-resistant components.Drill bits and reaming shells made with TSP diamonds are suitable for drilling in soft rocks with hardness below 7 degrees, such as lime rock, marble, shale, etc, and in medium to hard rocks with coarse grains.
Applications of TSP(Thermal Stable Polycrystalline):
Different thermally stable polycrystalline diamond products with different performances of wear-resistance, toughness, self-sharpening & high-temperature resistance can be used in gem-processing, Sic wheel dressers, wire drawing dies, coated cutters, etc. It can be applied on the drill bits for oilfields.
